To Get the Most Out of Life, Start with the End in Mind
Would you get in the car and start driving without any particular destination in mind?
You’d end up spinning your wheels, completely wasting your time, and not getting anywhere. That’s why it’s so important to think about your desired destinations in your life in order to make the right choices today on how to get there.
Not sold on my analogy? That’s okay. Consider this:
The world’s best lawyers decide what they want to say at closing arguments at the start of a case and then develop facts to support their argument.
Experienced business leaders approach a new challenge by considering their desired outcome and then creating measurable steps to achieve their goal.
And guess what? The same thought process works in life.
Imagine you are at the end of your life, looking back.
Are you there? Good. Now think about:
What would you like to have accomplished in life?
- What kind of person would you like to have been?
- What would you like people to say about you at your funeral?
- What interesting things would you like to have done?
- What mark did you want to leave on the world?
Considering these questions will help you begin thinking on a conceptual level the direction you may want to take in your life.
Now here’s the key:
Start living your life so that you will eventually get to that point
