why give back?
there are so many reasons why we should spend some time giving back to the community. it’s the right thing to do. it feels good. it helps bring you happiness. it makes a difference in someone else’s life.
want another reason? consider these words from a well renowned scholar:
we all want to believe that what we do is very important, that people hang onto our every word, that they care what we think. the truth is, you should consider yourself lucky if you even occasionally get to make someone – anyone – feel a little bit better. after that, it’s all about the people you let into your life.
and by well renowned scholar, i meant zach braff from the final episode of the television show scrubs. in any event, the sentiment still rings true. and it has provided me with enough reason to give back.
regardless of your reason to give back, sometimes we just don’t find the opportunity to do so. that’s where i step in. each month, i’ll be planning a community service project that is easy to get involved in.
there’s no fees to participate. no fundraising. no e-mail newsletter to subscribe to. just an opportunity to do some meaningful good in our spare time. here’s our first two projects:
November 2015: Thanksgiving Canned Food Drive
December 2015: Holiday Toy Drive for Children
They’re pretty self explanatory. Additional details can be found at these links. Now what are you waiting for? Grab a friend. Set aside some time. And give something back.
